Unlike normal bar screens which use flat bar making the openings between the bars prone to clogging the Micro Bar Screen uses a parallel array of wedge sectioned bars to form screen face. Wedge sectioned screen bars have only 2 contact points on which material can block, and the path from the screen face to the back of the screen is gradually enlarged. Solids which passed through the two contact points cannot become clogged between the wedge shaped bars. The cleaning rake with slotted teeth penetrates well past the opening on the wedge bars completely cleans the screen array and thereby completely prevents clogging or blinding of the screen.

Structural welding on traditional bar screens creates places where hair and other materials can accumulate. With the Micro Bar Screen non-welded v-notched cross bars support the screen in place helping to prevent the buildup of unwanted potentially clog causing material.
